Write Me A Song

"Children Of The Revolution"

Yeah
Well you can bump and grind
If it's good for your mind
Well you can twist and shout
Let it all hang out
[Chorus]
But you won't fool
The children of the revolution
No, you won't fool
The children of the revolution
No, no, no

Well you can terraplane
In the falling rain
I drive a Rolls Royce
'Cos it's good for my voice

[repeat Chorus to fade]

Words and music by Marc Bolan

"Children Of The Revolution"

This track can currently be heard as the music behind the UK television advert for T-Mobile.

On original release, in 1972, it made no2 in the UK. The first (issued with Marc's permission)
UK single to not hit number one since "Ride A White Swan".
The lyrics could almost be from a few years later later with the rise of punk and were the second time Marc had recorded an 'angry' song. The first being "Rip Off" on the "Electric Warrior" album.
Marc was of course to attain the label "Godfather Of Punk"
The UK public know this as the' red and white single', the only one released with a white label
and red graphics. However in Sweden it was released in the normal 'blue and red'.
We would like to thankJorgen Claesson for giving permission to publish
his photograph of this rare label.
